that's what this place makes me.

Last year with my bubba
It is my mission, every year, to go to Disneyland when all the Christmas decorations are in full swing. My love of Disneyland is slightly freakish... it's an obsession, really. For those hardcore Disneyland people out there, you'll know what I mean when I speak of "hidden mickeys." It's a thing for me, to try to find all the "hidden mickeys" I can when I visit the Magic Kingdom. Basically, when the park was built, there were Mickey shaped things placed all over, from the rod iron on the fences, to the flower arrangements. If you haven't noticed, look for them on your next visit. They are everywhere.
I also have obscure knowledge of the park. Anybody remember the old parking lot, you know, before they built California Adventure? There were character signs signifying your spot in the lot. When they tore it down, the put the Eeyore sign in the line for the Indian Jones ride. It's in the projection room, and you can only see it when you look back up at the actual projector. See, I told you I was a freak about Disneyland. Who else knows this kind of crap?
I was having a hard time trying to fit Disneyland into the schedule this year. I'm performing in a play the first two weekends in December, and Chris flies in from Scotland the next weekend. Then it's Christmas weekend. So this year, Disneyland will be visited by me, on my birthday... or as some people refer to the day, New Year's Eve. The Christmas decorations will still be up at the park, and I'll get to enjoy the park on my birthday, for the first time ever. Since my man, Chris, will be in town for the holidays, I'm dragging him along with me. And to make it even better, my brother and sister-in-law (who just happens to be preggers with my niece) live in Orange County, so I'll get to see them as well for my birthday! And just to top things off, my fantastic jobs has several Orange County hotels on trade, which means I have a two night stay across from South Coast Plaza for the trip, for free!
Umm... my man, Disneyland, my bubba, sister, the beach and shopping? I pretty much think that is the most perfect birthday weekend ever. It's still almost 7 weeks away, but I'm already excited.
Seriously, is there anything better than the childlike wonder of Disneyland. Seriously? I think not.

November 11, 2008 at 9:59 PMI didn't know all that but now I do! And now I want to go find mickeys! And I bought a season pass this year. so if you get the itch to go again in the spring, we'll double date-in the middle of the week. although I guess just you and me and henry aren't really a double date, but you know what I mean.
